Curing Prostate Cancer

treatments currently available for treating prostate cancer including hormone therapy using anti-androgens, radiation therapy and surgery. With the latest advancements in the field of medical technology, researchers working on prostate cancer are now trying to find innovative, good and preferences of the most advanced treatment side effects. Scientists are now investigating treatment options based on compounds that are naturally available in food and medicinal plants. Doctors use the compounds as a supplementary or complementary medicine by integrating them with conventional therapy.

Studies on the nutritional needs of animals and humans have shown that the development of prostate cancer can be effectively dammed if patients were given low-fat diet. Soy products and soy isoflavones have been found to have anti-androgenic effects, reduce the amount of testosterone circulating in the blood and makes it available for the growth of prostate cancer.

Another study funded by the manufacturer of pomegranate juice has been shown that regular consumption of pomegranate juice slowed the growth of prostate cancer to a significant degree.

Phenethyl isothiocyanate (PEITC) is a natural substance found in vegetables such as broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, turnips and Brussels sprouts. In a study conducted at Rutgers University, the combination of curcumin, found in turmeric, and PEITC have been shown to be effective in treating established prostate cancers.

A study conducted at the University of Illinois have discovered an interesting relationship between prostate cancer and daily consumption of broccoli and tomatoes. Both vegetables have been known to contain compounds that can fight cancer. This compound seems to work better in combination.

Other biologically significant compounds are being looked into in order to find drugs against prostate cancer include sunlight, vitamin D3, selenium, zinc, vitamin E and capsaicin.
